Art Nouveau (came from the French moderne – the newest, most modern) – style in European and American style on the shore of the XIX-XX centuries. Art Nouveau reinterpreted and stylized the features of the art of different epoxes, and worked out appropriate techniques, based on the principle of asymmetry, ornamentality and decorativeness. Its distinctive features are: the rejection of straight lines and angles in favor of more natural, natural lines. This is not only a matter of interest to the solid components in the products, but their size is also very small, and they are very small in size. Artists who wrote in the Art Nouveau style: Paul Gauguin (1848-1903), Gustav Klimt (1862-1918), Alphonse Mucha.
Art Nouveau painting was filled with the poetics of symbolism, combining its characteristic images with a complex rhythm, a linear composition in conjunction with a decorative color spot. Signs of the Art Nouveau style are considered to be a special smoothness of forms, elongated figures, underlined contours, clear monochromatic surfaces. Continue reading
Metaphysical painting – (from the Greek meta – after and phisika – nature, metaphysics – the science of spiritual phenomena inaccessible to experienced knowledge, the transcendental principles of the world) – a trend in Italian art that arose in 1916 in Ferrara. Its creators were painters Giorgio De Chirico, Carlo Carra, Giorgio Morandi. Subsequently, Morandi and Carra changed their style and de Chirico remained the only leader, in the paintings of which the geometrization and stiffness of forms symbolized “eternity, the metaphysics of time and space”, irrational connections between externally unrelated objects. Metaphysical art was not widespread, but had a great influence on other artists. It was close to symbolism and became the forerunner of another powerful art movement – surrealism. Continue reading
